IMMEDIATE DENTURES

Immediate dentures are made to provide the patient with teeth immediately after having all or some natural teeth removed by a dentist. Immediate dentures are made before natural teeth are extracted by the dentist and dentures are inserted on the day of extraction.

To provide the best treatment for patients while healing from extractions, a Denturist will work closely with the dentist. Immediate dentures allow the patient to continue eating, speaking and smiling right after the extraction of natural teeth. Immediate dentures act as a bandage during this healing time to help reduce bleeding, swelling and protect gums from the trauma of opposing teeth. Relining of immediate dentures is usually necessary after about 6 months in order to re-establish fit and function. After bone resorption and remodelling has slowed down.
